With corporate health care expenditures averaging over $9,000 per employee, employers can ill-afford to be caught off-guard by healthcare reform in '09. Learn the new laws, regulatory changes, and other reforms expected from the new Congress and Obama administration by participating in the all-new audio conference, How 2009 Will Change Your Health and Welfare Benefits Plans.
In just 90 minutes, Ashley Gillihan, an employment law attorney who focuses his practice on benefit compliance and litigation, will walk you through:
- The new rules in the Mental Health Parity Act just passed by Congress and how this law will change group health plans
- An update on the new Medicare secondary reporting requirements, and what the new requirements mean for employers and plan sponsors
- A plain-English explanation of the DOL’s proposed disclosure rules on 401(k) service provider fees and its impact on future service agreements
- What the future holds for health and welfare benefits plans: How the Obama administration and the 111th Congress may approach healthcare reform in 2009, including an overview of Obama’s healthcare reform plan
- How the landmark ERISA case (LaRue v. DeWolff) will likely open the floodgates for litigation from employees seeking profits lost in defined benefit contribution plans
- A look at major healthcare reform plans pending in 14 states and how these bills could expand coverage of the uninsured
- The tax credit in the recent financial bailout package that will help employees who participate in eco-friendly commuting habits
- An overview of the recently passed "Michelle’s Law" -- and how the law amends ERISA to provide healthcare coverage for college students
