2010 Employee Handbook
HR Hero Audio Conference on CD and Streaming Audio
Gary S. Fealk and Danielle C. Beasley
March 24, 2010
With each CD purchase, you get FREE access to streaming audio. CD and streaming audio are available 3 days after each live event.
Even though the live seminar on this topic has already taken place, you can still hear it! For your convenience, we've recorded it on CD and audio stream, so you can listen when you have time or share it with colleagues in your organization.
An employee handbook can be your best protection against an employment lawsuit. But unless it's updated regularly, your organization could be at risk. And with the new FMLA regulations and other new laws now in effect, you don't want to take any chances.
Learn how to update your employee handbook to protect against litigation by participating in the critical HR Hero audio conference, New Laws, New Employee Handbook? What to Change and What to Keep in 2010.
In just 90 minutes, your presenters will guide you through the components that should be in EVERY policy manual, including:
- At-will language
- No-solicitation clauses
- FMLA dos and don'ts
- Privacy procedures
- Safety procedures
- Discipline and discharge policies
- Attendance policies
- Nondiscrimination and harassment policies
You'll also learn the issues that should be addressed in separate binding agreements such as: arbitration agreements, noncompete contracts, and confidential information agreements.
Your speakers will also show you:
- How to begin creating or revising an employee manual, and who should be involved: counsel, upper management, everybody?
- Wording that should NEVER be used in handbooks and common policies that are actually illegal
- New trends in policymaking, such as prohibiting bullying and sexual orientation discrimination and no-fault attendance policies. Are they really a good idea?
- How to prevent your organization's handbook from being considered an employment contract
- State-specific issues that could impact your organization's policies
- How to communicate handbook changes and make sure the new policies are in force
- Recent statutory and case law changes that may impact your company's handbook, such as the recent FMLA "clarifications" from the DOL
- The pros and cons of using employee manual software
