HR Hero Audio Conference on CD and Streaming Audio
Presented by Michael McCourt and John J. Matchulat
March 4, 2008
With each CD purchase, you get FREE access to streaming audio. CD and streaming audio are available 3 days after each live event.
Even though the live seminar on this topic has already taken place, you can still hear it! For your convenience, we've recorded it on CD and audio stream, so you can listen when you have time or share it with colleagues in your organization.
Join us for an up-to-date look at these latest workplace challenges...
- The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that as of December 28, 2007, more than 246 people have been infected with the Avian Flu and an additional 213 people have died from the pandemic.
- And the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports that as of October, 2007, an estimated 94,000 individuals have been infected with the antibiotic-resistant "Super Bug". More people in the U.S. now die from these staph infections (MRSA) than from Aids.
- Adding to employer concerns are the host of legal issues surrounding ADA, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, and other statutes that could impact workplace policies in the event of a "Bird Flu" or "Super Bug" outbreak.
Participate in this all-new HR Hero audio conference and learn how these new health risks can spread among employees and practical steps employers can take to prepare for these pandemics and limit the spread of disease.
Complete with real-world advice, this interactive session explains HR's responsibilities should an outbreak occur. In just 90 minutes, you'll learn:
- Basic steps for preventing the spread of the Avian Flu and MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) within your organization -- and what to do if employees become infected with either disease
- Accurate definitions of important terms associated with the Avian Flu and MRSA
- How to separate fact from myth regarding MRSA, including: What exactly is Community Acquired-MRSA Staph Infection? How can it spread in the workplace? Where have the latest outbreaks occurred?
- Basic steps required for developing an outbreak response plan, with recent updates from the CDC
- The “real scoop” on the Tamiflu controversy (whether there is a link between Tamiflu, a drug taken to combat Avian Flu, and psychotic behavior)
- Which states are prepared to handle Avian Flu and MRSA outbreaks, and which are not
- How ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, OSHA regs, and FLSA exempt rules could impact employment policies in the event of a “Bird Flu” or “Super Bug” outbreak
- Workers compensation considerations to take into account when developing an outbreak response plan
- Whether employers should initiate a mandatory vaccination policy for workers
- And much, much more...
