HR Hero Audio Conference on CD and Streaming Audio
Presented by Christopher L. Thomas
October 17, 2007
With each CD purchase, you get FREE access to streaming audio. CD and streaming audio are available 3 days after each live event.
Even though the live seminar on this topic has already taken place, you can still hear it! For your convenience, we've recorded it on CD and audio stream, so you can listen when you have time or share it with colleagues in your organization.
The Department of Homeland Security just issued a "no-match" regulation to help employers ensure their non-native workers are legal.
Learn the new rules for keeping your organization compliant by participating in Coping with New Homeland Security Rules on SSA No-Match Letters.
Let Christopher Thomas, an attorney with years of experience in employment-based immigration law, guide you through the murky waters of immigration litigation.
In just 90 minutes, we'll cover:
What you need to know about the new regulation, including steps to complying with the "no-match" letter from the Social Security Administration in time for the deadline
How to establish a secure I-9 compliance program (steps to meeting the new regulations and civil penalties for non-compliance)
Criminal penalties faced by employers who knowingly violate immigration laws
An overview of the latest Bush Administration immigration initiatives, including:
- New regulations to reduce the number of documents employers must accept to confirm the identity/eligibility of their employees
- A 25 percent increase in employer fines, imposed by the Department of Homeland Security to deter organizations who "knowingly hire illegal immigrants"
- An expansion of criminal investigations against employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants (there have been more than 742 arrests since the beginning of FY 2007)
- A new rule requiring all federal contractors and vendors to use the federal electronic employment verification system to ensure workers are authorized to work in the U.S.
